Well, I've just started reading the Lightning Thief, first book in the Olympians series by Rick Riordan, and so far I like it. It's interesting and amusing. I mean, come on...Dionysus, god of wine and madness, is director of the summer camp for demigods because Zeus grounded him. Lol. What's not to like? And Chiron's cool.

I actually didn't know about the book series, until I got to see part of the movie the other day. What do you guys think of this series? I'm into Greek mythology, which is mainly why I wanted to at least check it out. So far, I'm glad I did.

Its a fun series to read. My favorite characters are Annabeth and Tyson and Leo from The Lost Hero. The movie is ok. I think the next one Sea of Monsters comes out next year.

Yeah, Annabeth is so cool! I don't like that stupid daughter of Ares though, whatever her name is, though. She's mean. I'll definitely see the movie; I didn't know they were making one of the second book. Schweet!

I'm slowly reading the first book.

I don't think those characters have even been mentioned yet.

At the time of this post I'm only up to the part where he goes to the beach.

I think I'll stop reading this thread lol, don't want to read any spoilers since I haven't even seen the movie.

Just wondering how many books are in this series?

I think I have 5 of the books.

The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth , and The Last Olympian.

Yeah those are the five books in the Olympians series. The Lost Hero series has one book so far with Percy and Annathbeth, but they are not the main characters.

Yeah Alley! Good choice, Claris (the daughter of Ares) has a more complicated personality and isn't as bad as one thinks. But... I'm awful with spoilers so looks like you'll have to enjoy. :p Btw, just FYI the lost heros is a follow up to percy jackson in the heros of olympus series.

I really liked the movie. I imagine the book would be even better. When I finish reading the current series I'm working on (The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks - which is absolutely amazing so far by the way) I might look into that one. A book I'm working on has elements of twisted greek mythology, so it might be useful for inspiration.

I just started the Son of Neptune. I can't wait to see what happens with Percy at the Roman camp.
